GE HealthCare and the British Institute of Radiology (BIR) announced a collaboration to expand access to artificial intelligence (AI) education for the healthcare industry professionals through GE HealthCare's HelloAI Initiative.
As part of this collaboration, the BIR community will have access to HelloAI educational resources to support professional development and deepen their understanding of AI in healthcare. The collaboration will also create opportunities for knowledge exchange through educational activities, expert discussions, and industry events focused on the responsible adoption of AI.
As AI becomes increasingly embedded in healthcare, the next phase of adoption will depend not only on access to technology, but also on how effectively healthcare organisations prepare their workforce, strengthen governance, and safely integrate AI into clinical practice. Radiology is already one of the most mature specialties in this regard, with AI adoption advancing from pilot projects to routine clinical workflows in many organisations. The challenge now is to build on these successes and enable similarly meaningful adoption across healthcare, ensuring AI delivers measurable value for clinicians, patients and health systems.
Through HelloAI, GE HealthCare and the BIR aim to help healthcare professionals build AI fluency - the knowledge needed to understand AI's capabilities and limitations, evaluate its use in practice, recognise potential risks and bias, and maintain appropriate human oversight.
The HelloAI program includes 20+ hours of on-demand courses and webinars with healthcare experts and is relevant to professionals in clinical, engineering, research, administrative, and leadership roles. Its on-demand format allows participants to learn at their own pace.
By combining GE HealthCare's expertise in healthcare AI with BIR's clinical and educational leadership, the collaboration reflects a shared commitment to making AI knowledge more accessible and helping healthcare organisations realise the full potential of AI in clinical practice.
