
Chief Executive's Office
Simon Thompson – Chief Executive
Simon is responsible for the management of the organisation. He works with Trustees and others to help develop the strategy, and with the BIR's in house team, branch and SIG management groups, Editorial teams, event organisers and volunteers to serve BIR members and the wider imaging and oncology community.
Lucy Stewart – Exec Assistant/Committee Secretary
Lucy provides administrative support to the Chief Executive, President, Council and the various scientific and management committees of the BIR. She administers the various prizes and awards offered by the Institute. Lucy is also the Office Manager.
Finance
Magda Howlett – Head of Finance and Operations
Magda is responsible for all financial, ICT, property management, insurance and contractual management issues for the organisation.
Communications and Membership
Carole Cross - Head of Communications and Partnerships
Carole is responsible for communications for the BIR including individual and corporate membership engagement, external engagement, partnerships with UK and international organisations, website, newsletters, PR and social media.
Jane Moynihan - Head of Membership and Systems
Jane has responsibity for strategic development and operational management of BIR individual membership and engagement, the CRM roadmap and data strategy.
Athena Tortopidis - Membership and Data Coordinator
Athena is responsible for maintaining an accurate membership database, customer service, engaging with our members effectively, keeping our members aware of activities and services through our enewsletter and website. She provides administrative support for external engagement and is part of the social media team.
Education
Sarah Adibi - ~Director of Education
Sarah has responsibility for the development, management, delivery and promotion of the BIR’s educational activities for the radiology community, working with a trustee-led Education Committee.
Malini Banerjee – Events Manager
Malini ensures the effective planning, marketing and delivery of the BIR’s educational events. She works with committees and regional branches to devise educational events that meet current needs of medical and scientific professionals working in the subject area.
Gretchen Johnson - Senior Events Coordinator
Hannah Cantwell - Events Coordinator
Gretchen and Hannah are the main contacts for all incoming queries concerning BIR educational events across the UK. They work alongside the Events Manager in the planning, marketing and delivery of the year’s educational programme and Annual Congress.
Helen Omoregbee - Events Assistant
Helen assists the events team in the marketing and delivery of the year’s educational programme and Annual Congress. She also supports the education team with general administrative duties including website management.
Guang (Sunny) Yang - Learning Technology Manager
Sunny focuses on development and use of new learning technologies to support the educational mission of the BIR. She implements a range of e-learning materials including webinars, videos and podcasts.
Daniel Blanchard - Video/Digital Producer
Daniel is responsible for assisting the Education team in the development and management of effective digital learning content, which includes webinars, online courses and recorded lectures videos. It covers filming, editing and post-production of video and audio content.
Publishing
Sophia Anderton – Director of Publishing
Sophia has overall strategic and operational responsibility for all publishing activities and the BIR video courses. Find out more about Sophia
Chris Clough – Production Manager
Chris oversees and coordinates the production of the BIR’s journals, liaising with editors, authors and printers. He is responsible for the scheduling of all publications.
Tami Potten – Publisher (Journals)
Tami is responsible for the strategic development of the BIR journal portfolio, ensuring the BIR continues to publish high quality, relevant content in a rapid manner.
Miranda Ashby-Wood – Publisher (Development)
Miranda is responsible for the commissioning and development of BIR video courses and content within the BIR journal portfolio, working with members of the community to deliver relevant and high quality material.
Vanessa Brunt – Editorial Assistant
Vanessa’s role is to coordinate the peer review process for the BIR journal portfolio. She works with authors, reviewers and the Editorial Boards to ensure that manuscripts are reviewed in a timely manner and a constant flow of content is provided.
Sarah Jordan – Production Editor
Sarah is responsible for assisting in the production of the BIR journal portfolio. She liaises with authors, editors, typesetters and printers throughout the production process.
