The World Radiography Educational Trust Fund (WRETF) has a new bursary scheme for radiographers, radiological technologists, assistants and teachers in developing countries. The scheme funds participants to attend a relevant conference, or visit a training centre, hospital or other institution to enhance their knowledge of radiography and bring home better patient care to their hospitals and institutions.
There are up to four bursaries available each year with awards of a maximum of £500 each.
Applicants should note that they are responsible for arranging their visits or conference attendance and MUST also give detail of what funding is being requested from WRETF and the sources of funding currently obtained or promised, so that an assessment can be made of what funding WRETF can provide if the application is successful.
Successful applicants in the launch of the scheme last year were Thakur Lamsal from the sub-regional hospital in Nepal to attend the ISRRT World Congress in June 2014 in Helsinki, where he had been invited to present a paper. The second was Ntokozo Gqweta to attend a radiographic conference in September 2014 in Raleigh, USA from his base in Kingsburgh in South Africa.
For attendance at conferences, workshops or to visit an educational institute, between January and June 2015, the closing date for receipt of applications is 20 September 2014.
