Simon Thompson – Chief Executive
Simon is responsible for the management of the organisation. He works with Trustees and others to help develop the strategy, and with the BIR's in house team, branch and SIG management groups, Editorial teams, event organisers and volunteers to serve BIR members and the wider imaging and oncology community.
Lucy Stewart – Exec Assistant/Committee Secretary
Lucy provides administrative support to the Chief Executive, President, Council and the various scientific and management committees of the BIR. She administers the various prizes and awards offered by the Institute.
Ann Oyediran - Administrative Assistant
Ann provides invaluable administrative support for all the departments of the organisation. She is usually the first point of contact for anyone visiting or calling the Institute.
Communications and Membership
Carole Cross - Head of Membership and Communications
Carole is responsible for membership and communications for the organisation including individual and corporate membership promotion and engagement, external engagement, website, newsletters, marketing materials, PR and social media.
Jane Moynihan - Membership and Data Manager
Jane manages and administrates individual and corporate membership of the BIR and is also responsible for managing our customer database and developing membership engagement strategies.
Mariane Zanatta - Membership and Communications Assistant
Mariane is responsible for maintaining an accurate membership database, customer service, engaging with our members effectively, keeping our members aware of activities and services through our enewsletter and website. She provides administrative support for external engagement and is part of the social media team.
Jeanette Romero - Marketing Manager
Jeanette is responsible for delivering online and offline marketing campaigns with the aim to promote the BIR activities and the membership benefits
Magda Howlett – Head of Finance and Operations
Magda is responsible for all financial, ICT, property management, insurance and contractual management issues for the organisation.
Sarah Adibi - Head of Education
Sarah has responsibility for the development, management, delivery and promotion of the BIR’s educational activities for the radiology community, working with a trustee-led Education Committee.
Malini Banerjee – Events Manager
Malini ensures the effective planning, marketing and delivery of the BIR’s educational events. She works with committees and regional branches to devise educational events that meet current needs of medical and scientific professionals working in the subject area.
Gretchen Johnson - Events Coordinator
Christiana Adebajo - Events Coordinator
Gretchen and Christiana are the main contacts for all incoming queries concerning BIR educational events across the UK. They work alongside the Events Manager in the planning, marketing and delivery of the year’s educational programme and Annual Congress.
Hannah Cantwell - Events Assistant
Hannah assists the events team with marketing and administrative duties.
Guang (Sunny) Yang - Learning Technology Manager
Mel Glynn – e-Learning Technologist
Mel and Sunny focus on development and use of new learning technologies to support the educational mission of the BIR. They implement a range of e-learning materials including webinars, videos and podcasts.
Sophia Anderton – Head of Publishing
Sophia has strategic and operational responsibility for books, journals and e-products. Find out more about Sophia
Chris Clough – Production Manager
Chris oversees and coordinates the production of the BIR’s journals and books, liaising with editors, authors and printers. He is responsible for the scheduling of all publications.
Tami Potten – Editorial Development Manager
Tami is responsible for the strategic development of the BJR. She works closely with the Publisher to ensure that the BIR continues to publish high quality, relevant content in a rapid manner.
Miranda Wilson-Wood – Content Development Editor
Miranda is responsible for driving content-generation activities within the publications team, working with members of the community to deliver relevant and high quality material.
Vanessa Brunt – Editorial Assistant
Vanessa’s role is to coordinate the peer review process for the British Journal of Radiology. She works with authors, BJR reviewers and the Editorial Board to ensure that manuscripts are reviewed in a timely manner and a constant flow of content is provided.
Sarah Jordan – Production Editor
Sarah is responsible for assisting in the production of our two journals, BJR and Imaging, as well as DMFR. She liaises with authors, editors, typesetters and printers throughout the production process.
