Company Profile:

Southern Scientific was founded in 1983, initially supplying scietific equipment to the export market.

The company has expanded over they years and is now a major supplier of products into the Nucleonic Instrumentation, Military Nuclear Monitoring and Health Physics and Environmental Monitoring industries. However, the medical division of the company is the fastest growing division in the group, covering X-ray equipment and accessories and Medical Nucleonic diagnostic equipment and accessories.

Among the portfolio of products available from Southern Scientific is a full range of general X-ray accessories, i.e. grids, viewers, couches, trollies and radiation protection products.

The company is the exclusive dealer in the UK for a range of QA products. UNFORS instruments for X-ray QA measurements and PEHAMED who supply a full range of products for sensitometry, densitometry and quality assurance checks, as well as VACUTEC DAP and networked DAP systems.

Other exclusive suppliers are PLANILUX, who supply a complete range of quality blinded X-ray viewers, multiviewers for large scale film reporting and most importantly the leading mammography multiviewers for the NHS BSP. Closely linked to these multiviewers is the R2 Computer Aided Detection System for Mammography, for which the company are again exclusive UK dealers.

The Nuclear Medicine portfolio covers the Capintec range of isotope calibrators, thyroid uptake systems, AMICI ventilation products, along with a range of calibration phantoms and radiation monitors.
