About BJR

The British Journal of Radiology is the official peer-reviewed monthly research journal of the British Institute of Radiology.

The peer-review system ensures that only work of the highest academic standing is accepted for publication. Papers are published rapidly - average handling time is 6 months from submission to publication.

It is a multidisciplinary journal covering all clinical and technical aspects of diagnostic imaging, radiotherapy and oncology, medical physics and radiobiology. The multidisciplinary approach of the journal enables readers to keep up-to-date with developments in their own as well as related fields.

BJR is essential reading for radiologists, medical physicists, radiotherapists, radiographers and radiobiologists.

The journal publishes original Research Papers from leading centres internationally. It also contains Editorials, Commentaries, Review Articles, Case Reports, Short Communications, Pictorial Reviews, Letters to the Editor, Book Reviews, and a Case of the Month feature.

In 2006 BJR launched an exciting new feature, BJR Advance. Forthcoming scientific articles are published online in BJR Advance one to two months before they are scheduled to appear in print.

BJR Advance contains full papers, reviews, and commentaries in Diagnostic Radiology, Radiotherapy and Oncology, Medical Physics, and Radiobiology published several weeks in advance of print. When papers appear in print, they will be removed from this feature and grouped with other papers in an issue and move to the current issue link of BJR Online. The publication date appears below each title, followed by the article's unique Digital Object Identifier (DOI).
BJR Advance manuscripts have undergone the complete peer-review process and are essentially the same version of the article that will appear in print, namely, they have been peer reviewed, revised, copyedited, typeset, and approved by the authors and BJR editors. There may be minor typographical errors, which will be corrected in the final print and online versions; however there will be no substantive factual changes.
