GE Healthcare (Medical Diagnostics) FellowshipThe British Institute of Radiology invites applications for the GE Healthcare (Medical Diagnostics) Fellowship 2008. This Fellowship, generously funded by GE Healthcare, is intended to sponsor a visit to one or more centres abroad. Areas of interest would include (a) developments in nuclear medicine or (b) new techniques involving X-ray, MRI, CT or ultrasound. It is hoped that the recipient of the Award will learn a technique not currently available in the UK and then be in a position to bring back and share the expertise. Scientists, Technicians, Radiopharmacists, Radiographers, Radiologists and Nuclear Medicine Physicians Application is invited from Scientists, Technicians, Radiopharmacists, Radiographers, Radiologists and Nuclear Medicine Physicians (of specialist registrar or consultant status). Applicants should be BIR members (Full or Associate; they may join at the time of application). Up to £5,000 is available to permit concentrated study free of financial constraints; more than one award may be made. Applications should include a curriculum vitae, details of the purpose of the visit and a detailed study programme. It should also include the estimated cost and written evidence that agreement has been reached with the centres concerned and with your head of department. Applications should be submitted by Friday 12 September 2008. Medical students An Award of up to £1,000 is available to support an elective abroad containing a significant radiology/nuclear medicine component. Applications should include a curriculum vitae, and details of the elective. It should also include the estimated cost and written evidence that agreement has been reached with the centres concerned and with your head of department. Applications should be submitted by Friday 12 September 2008. Students are reminded that they are eligible to receive free Associate Membership of the BIR - details available at http://bir.org.uk/student_info.html. A condition of the Fellowship is that a report be submitted to the BIR, in a form suitable for publication, within three months of the end of the visit.
