The Fetal MRI portfolio is built around the Fetal MRI interactive workshop and a range of online activities (webinars, videos and articles) that are designed to support your learning. 

 Learning outcomes:

On completing the full portfolio programme you will:

  • understand how to perform and obtain good quality images of the fetus using MRI
  • understand the basics of image interpretation and likely pitfalls
  • understand the issues around fetal MRI and initiating a service.

Target audience:

This portfolio programme is designed for radiologists and radiographers who would like to gain a deeper understanding of normal and abnormal fetal appearances as visualised with MRI. 


You will undertake a range of activities to gain the relevant knowledge in the niche area of fetal MRI and demonstrate attendance / successful completion by providing evidence in the form of a portfolio and summary self-reflection.

Dr Elspeth Whitby has been involved with fetal MRI since 1998. She currently runs a national service based in Sheffield and supports other centres to develop a local service as well as training radiologists.
