Simon Thompson – Chief Executive
Simon is responsible for the effective management of the organisation with particular responsibility for strategic development in conjunction with the trustees and operational delivery on a sound financial basis with the senior management team.
Lucy Stewart – Exec Assistant/Committee Secretary
Lucy provides administrative support to the Chief Executive, President, Council and the various scientific and management committees of the BIR. She administers the various prizes and awards offered by the Institute.
Kimberley Williams - Administrative Assistant
Kimberley provides invaluable administrative support for all the departments of the organisation. She is usually the first point of contact for anyone visiting or calling the Institute.
Communications and Membership
Carole Cross - Communications Manager
Carole is responsible for all communications for the organisation including individual and corporate membership promotion and engagement, website, newsletters, marketing materials, PR and social media.
Jane Moynihan - Membership and Data Coordinator
Jane administrates and manages individual and corporate membership of the BIR and is also responsible for managing our customer database.
Daniel Hooper - Membership Engagement Coordinator
Daniel is responsible for increasing membership, communicating with members and ensuring we engage with our members.
Magda Howlett – Finance and Operations Manager
Magda is responsible for all financial, ICT, property management, insurance and contractual management issues for the organisation.
Sarah Adibi - Head of Education
Jennifer Edie – Head of Education
Sarah and Jennifer share the responsibility for the development, management, delivery and promotion of the BIR’s educational activities for the radiology community, working with a trustee-led Education Committee.
Abisola Amoo – Education Development Manager
Abi is responsible for developing BIR educational resources and strategy. She works closely with the committee, SIGs and other BIR members to identify and deliver new education activities.
Rebecca Groves – Events Manager
Rebecca ensures the effective planning, marketing and delivery of the BIR’s educational events. She works with committees and regional branches to devise educational events that meet current needs of medical and scientific professionals working in the subject area.
Malini Banerjee – Events Coordinator
Sara Greer – Events Coordinator
Malini and Sara are the main ports-of-call for all incoming queries concerning BIR educational events across the UK. They work alongside the Events Manager in the planning, marketing and delivery of the year’s educational programme and Annual Congress.
Khalda Mohammed - Information Specialist
Khalda develops and manages online information resources for the radiological community and provides information services to members.
Mel Glynn – e-Learning Technologist
Guang (Sunny) Yang - e-Learning Technologist
Mel and Sunny focus on development and use of new learning technologies to support the educational mission of the BIR. They implement a range of e-learning materials including webinars, videos and podcasts.
Sophia Anderton – Head of Publishing
Sophia has strategic and operational responsibility for books, journals and e-products. Find out more about Sophia
Chris Clough – Production Manager
Chris oversees and coordinates the production of the BIR’s journals and books, liaising with editors, authors and printers. He is responsible for the scheduling of all publications.
Tami Potten – Editorial Development Manager
Tami is responsible for the strategic development of the BJR. She works closely with the Publisher to ensure that the BIR continues to publish high quality, relevant content in a rapid manner.
Miranda Wilson-Wood– Content Development Editor
Miranda is responsible for driving content-generation activities within the publications team, working with members of the community deliver relevant and high quality material.
Vanessa Brunt – Editorial Assistant
Vanessa’s role is to coordinate the peer review process for the British Journal of Radiology. She works with authors, BJR reviewers and the Editorial Board to ensure that manuscripts are reviewed in a timely manner and a constant flow of content is provided.
Sarah Jordan – Production Editor
Sarah is responsible for assisting in the production of our two journals, BJR and Imaging, as well as DMFR. She liaises with authors, editors, typesetters and printers throughout the production process.
Rachel Huntington - Marketing Executive
Rachel is responsible for promoting the journals (BJR, BJR case reports and DMFR) and books published by the BIR.
